Yee Wan Named CABE
Administrator of the Year

SAN JOSE, CA - Yee Wan, Yee Wan, coordinator of Multilingual Programs at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, has been named Administrator of the Year for the 2010 annual conference of the California Association for Bilingual Education.

Her recognition will take place at the organization's Educator of the Year Awards luncheon on March 7 at the San Jose Convention Center.

"This is a wonderful honor for Yee, who is an incredible resource and role model for supporting multilingual programs. Her leadership and advocacy for English language learners have contributed significantly to the delivery of quality instruction," said Linda Aceves, chief academic officer at the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

At the County Office, Wan oversees a program that provides training and resources to teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals to support instruction and achievement for English language learners. The program helps teachers to obtain California Teacher of English Learners certification to teach English learners. In addition, the unit offers the California English Language Development Test administration training annually.

CABE is a non-profit organization that promotes bilingual education and quality educational experiences for California's students and their diverse cultural, racial, and linguistic backgrounds.
