Summit on Cyber Ethics

SAN JOSE, CA –A conference featuring school leaders and experts from across the state will be held on Friday to explore the issues of cyber ethics and cyber-bullying among youth.

Sponsored by the California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP) Region V and Yahoo!, the Second Annual CyberCitizenship Summit will:

  • Provide educational leaders with current laws and policies about cyber ethics and safety from national experts.
  • Give educational leaders access to national policy-makers and experts on the appropriate use of Web 2.0 tools.
  • Assist school and district teams with their development of policies for responsible use of electronic devices and the Web.
  • Offer curriculum that focuses on cyber ethics and safety for students, teachers, administrators and parents.

The keynote speaker is Chris Lehmann, of the Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia. The event will be held at Yahoo! Classrooms 4 and 5, 701 First Ave., Sunnyvale, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The summit will provide educational leaders “a place to learn about and discuss current laws, best practices, and the latest curriculum which can be brought back to their schools,” said Diana Paradise, CTAP Region V Interim Director.

CTAP is administered through the Santa Clara County Office of Education. It provides professional development services, tools, and resources to assist schools and districts for best practices in using technology to promote improved teaching and learning.
