Craig Mann to be Inducted
Into SCCOE Board of Education
SAN JOSE, CA – Craig Mann, newest member of the Santa Clara County
Board of Education, will be sworn in prior to the board’s regular meeting on
Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Mann will represent the county’s Area 6, which includes Evergreen,
Franklin-McKinley, Oak Grove and corresponding portions of East Side Union High
school districts.
He has worked in private industry throughout most of his career. He was a
member and chair of San Jose's Human Rights Commission for three years, worked
as a parent volunteer, served as a church trustee and has served on several
non-profit boards.
Mann’s school board experience includes eight years as an East Side Union
High School District trustee and two years as a Metropolitan Education District
trustee.
Because he was the only one to file for the seat, which was vacated by
Anthony Munoz, there was no election held for the position. The remaining two
seats for which terms were up were won in the November election by incumbents
T.N. Ho and Jane Howard.
The board is the elected governing body of the Santa Clara County Office of
Education. Its seven members serve four-year terms and are elected from
different regions of the county. The board sets the policies that guide the COE
and establishes the operating budget. It also appoints the county
superintendent, who manages the administration of the office.
The regular meeting will be held at 5 p.m., in the board room of the SCCOE,
1290 Ridder Park Dr., San Jose.
