Board to Interview Candidates
For Vacated Area 1 Seat
Interviews for a provisional appointment to the Santa Clara County Board of
Education will be held at a special board meeting on Wednesday, March 28.
The SCCOE received three letters of interest in the position by the deadline
of March 5. The three submitting letters were Rose Filicetti of Mountain View,
and Grace H. Mah and Barbara Spreng, both of Palo Alto.
The position became vacant when Williamson M. "Bill" Evers resigned
to take a position as U.S. Assistant Secretary of Education for Planning,
Evaluation and Policy Development. The provisional appointee will serve until
the term of office of the vacant seat expires in November 2008.
The appointee will represent Board Trustee Area 1, which includes the Palo
Alto Unified, Sunnyvale, Mountain View-Whisman school districts and the
corresponding portions of Fremont Union and Mountain View-Los Altos Union High
school districts.
At the special meeting, each candidate will have 20 minutes to respond to
five pre-assigned questions from the sitting board members. Following the
interviews, the board members will rank their choices, and subsequently make
their selection. If a candidate receives four votes, the president will call for
a motion to nominate her.
The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, 1290 Ridder Park Dr.,
San Jose.
