TV for the Classroom
Silicon Valley Instructional Television (SVITV) channels 25, 27, 29 and 31
offer high quality educational programming.
Channel 25 is our request channel for teachers to request a broadcast
in a special timeslot. Tune in here for professional development and distance learning workshops,
as well as special broadcasts. Call 408.453.6633 or email Jim Risinger for more information.
Channel 27 carries Annenberg programming 24 hours a day, 7 days
per week. These programs are research-based, thoughtful lectures and classroom
footage of best practices in most subjects.
Channel 29 carries *SPECIAL* programming.
These programs will review Math and English Language Arts basics, as well as the
fundamentals of high school science and history. Grade 5 history teachers will
find the Colonial Williamsburg programming and History Hunters-5 broadcast on this channel.
Channel 31 now carries NASA programming, including science and math
lectures and experiments, live broadcasts from the Space Station, and various
Shuttle programs.
In order to receive our broadcast signal an antenna is necessary. If you are
a public school in Santa Clara County, the first antenna installation at your
school site or district office site is free. However, subsequent repositions or
reinstallations costs are available upon request.
If your school does not have an antenna, please
contact Jim Risinger, Manager of Television Services by phone at 408 453-6633 or
by email at jim_risinger@sccoe.org for more information.
