Algebra 1 Testing Requirement: On July 9, 2008, the State Board of Education (SBE) voted to implement Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposal to require all eighth grade students to be assessed in Algebra I within three years: http://www.cde.ca.gov/nr/re/ht/egar.asp

Mathematics Institutes to Foster Student Success in 8th Grade Algebra 1
These Institutes will support teachers in developing a greater understanding of grade level math content and how it builds towards success in Algebra 1. Please register at the OMS website...

Curriculum Leadership Council (CLC)
The goal of the CLC is to build district and school leadership capacity to improve teaching and learning. Participants will develop leadership skills; understand national, state, and county initiatives; interact with current research; and receive professional development focusing on academic language and best practices. To register, contact Kirsten Sarginger.

SB 472 Mathematics Professional Development
The SCCOE is authorized to provide SB 472 Mathematics Institutes in all the State Board of Education approved programs. SCCOE can provide local institutes in your district. If you are interested in scheduling institutes in your district, please contact Mayra Ayala.
