THE MERIT SYSTEM RULES
The Merit System, adopted by the Personnel Commission, Santa Clara County Office of Education, San Jose,
California, on July 1, 1973, provides statutory protection through the California Education Code
(Title 2, Part 25, Chapter 5, Article 6, Sections 45240 through 45320) against politically and personally
motivated employment, promotion, discipline and dismissal actions.
The Personnel Commission and its staff wish to acknowledge the following classified employees and employee
group representatives for their efforts and contributions to develop and revise these rules.
