Assessment and Accountability

The Assessment and Accountability Department works with the SCCOE and with schools, districts and the public to provide professional guidance in the collection, reporting, and use of student achievement information to improve schools and to increase academic achievement for all students.

Services

  • Accountability

Student performance on federal and state criteria is reported in context of the No Child Left Behind Act (2002) and the Public Schools Accountability Act (1999). Staff coordinate the release of the Accountability Progress Report (APR), Accountability Performance Index (API), Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO) and Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAO). The department prepares information that assists professional educators and the general public to better understand the performance of local students and school districts in context of county and statewide trends. The department also assists schools with communicating accountability information to their constituents through the School Accountability Report Card (SARC).
  • General Educational Development (GED)

The COE is a primary San Jose community site for the GED exam. Exams are given on Tuesday and Wednesday. Office hours are maintained for pre-registration, obtaining information and transcripts on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Staff works closely with the Regional Occupational Programs to assist as well as walk in clients. You can get more information on the GED here.
